GADV supports students trips to Ghana

In April 2018, the Ghanaian Association of Delaware Valley made a donation to the Science Leadership Academy at Beeber, to help fund student travelers embarking on their first journey to Ghana.

The association was invited to a lunch at Aku’s Kitchen with the students and their families, prior to the travel, to help answer any questions the students and their families had about Ghana. It also served as an opportunity for the students to be introduced to Ghanaian food.

For the two weeks these students were in Ghana, they visited Independence Square, The Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, National Cultural Center and the Dubois Center. The students also traveled to Kumasi, Takoradi and Koforidua and interacted with students at a number of technical schools.

One student traveler writes, “Learning a new culture wasn’t very hard but the experience was more than amazing. I want to return,” student traveler C.E.

For the GADV, it was a joy seeing the excitement in these students as they embarked on a new experience; an experience that we hope has left them forever changed.

“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.” -Eleanor Roosevelt
